My Journey To: Trust

It can be hard to trust people. Even if you don't have "trust issues," there may be something in your head telling you to be careful. Especially if that trust has been broken before. Some people go as far as to trust no one. They won't be embarrassed or have their hearts broken. While I understand this motive, given the past of some people's lives, it can be a very isolating experience. One that I have experienced. So, I wrote a song about it. I didn't want the title of this blog to be clickbait, so I am going to talk about life. But, really, it's about my song called "Trust."

As with all the music I write (at least for this era), I want to write messages to help people. I want them to be uplifting and encouraging. And that is what I have done for "Trust." It's about someone in a new relationship who's having trouble trusting a new partner after being hurt by the previous one. If you've ever been cheated on, lied to, or burned in a relationship, the first thing on your mind may be to not repeat history. You don't want to try again. Because why would you do that to yourself? In this situation, I would take my time building trust with someone else because I can't trust right away. But that doesn't mean it can't happen at all.

This song has more elements than my last single, "Human." I had a lot of fun creating the harmonies and dynamics in the music. It's overall a bolder piece, and I think people will really enjoy it. Harmonies aren't something I've done before by myself, so it was a bit of a learning curve. I had my keyboard to make sure I was singing all the right notes. Now it sounds like a small choir. Since there was so much going on, I had to record over multiple days. If you want to hear something similar, you can look at this video I have on my Instagram. I hope everyone who listens to it can get something out of it.

It's not just about romantic relationships. It can be about new friends or getting close to family members; maybe someone who broke your trust before. Life is too short to spend isolated, in our own heads, never trusting anyone. There are nearly 8 billion people in the world. There has to be a good amount who can add to the goodness in my life. If someone breaks your trust, that doesn't mean someone else doesn't deserve it.
